Background:
Neither Dan nor I particularly care for applesauce so I haven't bought any for a long time. But there were some little cups of it on sale a couple of days ago so we decided to get some for the kids. The Crime:
Last night after hanging out with tons of family in Provo, the kids wanted to eat something quick before bed. I broke out the applesauce cups. First I gave them both a little spoonful to taste to see if they liked it. Toby said he loved it so I gave him his own little cup, then Sadie took a taste and wanted the same.
A few minutes later Sadie came and asked if she could save the rest for in the morning. Sadie rarely eats more then a few bites of anything so I didn't give it a second thought, wrapped hers, and put it in the fridge.
Confession:
About 20-30 minutes after the standard bedtime routine I was sitting on my bed, enjoying the quiet, when my bedroom door slowly creaked open.
Sadie: (head down, walking slowly)
Me: "What's a matter Sader?"
Sadie: "Mom...remember when I told you that I liked that sauce stuff and that I'd eat it later...?"
Me: "Yes..."
Sadie: "Well... I didn't tell you the truth... I really don't like it."
Me: "Thank you for telling me the truth, it's okay sweetie, you don't have to finish it in the morning"
Sadie: "Okay, thank you." (heading back to bed, now free to sleep with a clear conscience)
Me: "Goodnight Sadie, I love you."
Sadie: "Goodnight mom, I love you too."
