Vernal/DinoLand - Swimming & Chillin'

We stayed at a Motel 6 in Vernal.
It had been well over a year since the kids were in a swimming pool. So playing in the Hotel pool each evening was a highlight for them. Sadie was a little nervous at first, but Dan and Toby jumped in and went crazy. Toby got a little closer to learning to swim. Something we will continue to work on with them. I'm ashamed to confess...I enjoyed playing in the pool a lot but I myself am not a swimmer and don't really know how to swim. I can swim short distances when I need to, but have never liked or spent much time in water, so I have some work to do.

Recently we watched an episode of the Food Networks show "Unwrapped" during which they highlighted the Slurppee. Toby and Sadie were pretty awed, and I hadn't realized they had never had a Slurpee, so on vacation we fixed that.
They are both now huge Slurpee fans.

I can't get the picture to work, but wanted to document. On the drive there Toby was curious about Cattle Guards. Both Dan and I made several attempts to explain them but for some reason Toby just couldn't grasp the concept. It was a bit funny. Eventually Dan found one in a good place to stop and we got out took pictures and spent some time trying to explain how they work. I think everything was cleared up, but who knows, sometimes Toby is such a funny kid when trying to grasp a new random concept.

The memories we made on this trip are priceless, and truly some of the best days of my entire life. As I look back over the last year and the fun events of this summer I get choked up with love and gratitude. What other husband would agree and get excited to spend our first anniversary creating memories with the kids, when we could have just as easily ditched them and spent some also much missed time alone.

In the next 7 weeks our little girl will be born and we will start the next chapter of our lives. I'm excited, anxious, and a bit nervous to see what's in store for us next. Whatever comes our way, I couldn't be any happier to be spending my life with Dan and our awesome kids.

What a fun trip, we've never been there but I've always been curious what was out there. Maybe we'll have to take a detour one of these trips.
I remember learning about cattle guards too and being a bit confused. Silly cows.
