March 2010 - Preparedness (by Pam)

Our ward Relief Society has decided to put a preparedness plan in the Ward Newsletter each Month for the next year.
I like the idea and want to keep track of what they list each month. So this is more for my own records then anything else.

-Heritage Ward-
"We will be providing a suggested list of goals for your family to work on each month for the next year. If you are able to fulfill each goal monthly, your family will have one year's supply of food by next March! If you are unable to get these things at this time, Adapt as necessary. (Buy 1 or 2 cans per person instead.)"

1) Spiritual Goal: Hold FHE every Monday for the next month
2) Provident Living Goal: Review you retirement goals. Are you putting enough aside to be able to support yourselves and to do the things you want to when you retire?
3) Food Storage Goal:
--24 cans of meat or fish per person
--1 gallon of bleach per person
--manual can opener
--Garbage bags
--Laundry detergent
4) 72 Hour Kit Goal:
Gather a change of clothing including underwear and shoes for each family member. Include warm coats and boots, or have them immediately accessible.
Add the Following: ax, shovel, bucket, utility knife, $20 cash, $5 in change for phone.
(You can use a rolling garbage can as a good storage area for 72 hour kit accessories.)

I saw last week that our ward was doing the same thing, I wonder if it is churchwide.
